    Contract Doctors in Malaysia Walk Out, What’s the Fate of Patients?

    Contract doctors in Malaysia carried out a walk out action on Monday (26/7/2021). This action is not related to COVID-19, but demands that there be permanent positions for doctors.

    The Hartal Doctor Contract Group on Facebook shared media for doctors who walked out in various locations. The doctors walked out while carrying writings demanding certainty of a career as a permanent doctor in the state health system.

    A doctor carried the words “Rebellion But Prioritizing Patients.” Before taking action, the doctors were reminded to return to the hospital if needed so that treatment was not interrupted.

    “The responsibility is still carried out even though there are parties who try to thwart HARTAL today by stating the doctor left the patient without treatment,” said a doctor in a post distributed by Hartal Contract Doctor.

    Not a few doctors who act while wearing PPE. There are also those who write “dr contract” on their clothes.

    Critical care workers such as those in the ER, ICU, or COVID-19 wards are not included in this action.

    Health Protocol
    Based on the posters distributed by Hartal, the participants were explicitly asked not to commit acts of violence. Provocations are also prohibited.
