iPhone Controls 41 Percent of Money Transactions from Smartphone Sales

Citing Phone Arena, Tuesday (3/8/2021), based on Counterpoint research, the total value of smartphone sales transactions in the second quarter of 2021 reached USD 96 billion.

This figure is an increase of 25 percent over the same period last year. However, this figure is down when compared to the previous period.

“The decline was due to the industry facing supply constraints,” said Counterpoint Research Analyst Aman Chaudhary, quoted from the Counterpoint page.

Chaudhary also revealed that Apple’s transaction value was 41 percent of the overall revenue above. He said Apple’s revenue was supported by sales of the iPhone 12 series which were quite good.

Samsung in Second Place
Counterpoint said Samsung was in second place with a transaction value of 15 percent of USD 96 billion or USD 14.4 billion.

In the next position there is Xiaomi with a transaction value of 9 percent of the total transactions, which is around USD 8.6 billion.

Then there is Oppo which controls 9 percent (about USD 8.6 billion) of total smartphone transactions and Vivo also controls 9 percent of total transactions. Other brands account for 17 percent of the total sales of smartphones.

“Xiaomi had a strong quarterly result in terms of revenue, being the only brand in the top five to increase its total revenue. One of the drivers was the strong performance of the Redmi Note and the Mi 11 series,” said Chaudhary.

Counterpoint Senior Analyst Harmeet Singh said, “Xiaomi surpasses 50 million smartphone shipments for the first time driven by the combination of premium devices and mid-range devices.”

According to him, Xiaomi’s performance is quite extraordinary despite the decline in sales transactions in India due to the spread of the new Covid-19 variant. Xiaomi was also praised for its pretty good growth in Europe, Southeast Asia, Central America, and Latin.
